Easy to bead velvet ribbon necklace
I was going for a Tudor look with this velvet ribbon necklace, but then I don't remember any pictures with chokers from that time period. Oh well (or should I say alas?), I still like how it came out even if it could have been more authenic. I recommend using a hoop, 12" or smaller. It only has to stretch in one direction, not both.
What you need
12" hoop
16" black velvet ribbon
12 seed pearls
gold seed beads
5 glass red hearts
ribbon crimp
toggle clasp
2 jumprings
pliers
beading needle
clear acrylic thread
What to do
- Prepare ribbon with the hoop.
- Come up through back with needle and thread. Thread 10 gold beads and come down close to where you came up. Anchor circle of beads on opposite side.
- Make another circle of beads in the same way.
- Come up and thread needle with a pearl. Secure it to ribbon.
- Flank both sides of the pearl with picot motif by threading six gold beads on needle. Rethread last three beads forming a picot.
- Repeat on other side.
- Do one more cluster of circle, pearl, heart bead, pearl, circle.
- Repeat four times.
- End with circle, pearl, two circles. Knot off.
- Close ribbon crimp with pliers.
- Connect toggle clasp with jumprings.
