Cool Crafting Websites for Children
Of course, it isn’t a good idea for children to spend massive amounts of time in front of the computer when they could be playing or learning something...That being said, there are many cool sites expressly meant for children that are safe and craft-related. My favorites are listed here.
If you have a kid you have probably stumbled upon
Enchanted Learning
at least once before. They have tons of coloring pages and simple craft ideas. They do require membership for full size printouts.
The website
artistshelpingchildren.org
used to be a charity website. Hopefully they will get the kinks ironed out and resume their charitable work. But, in the meantime they have many craft ideas and instructions.
There are quite a few interactive art sites where you can sit and make cool designs. The following are exactly that. Plus, your art can be saved or emailed which means you can keep it, and it doesn't evaporate into cyberspace.
Make-a-Flake
,
Bomomo
, and the
Mandala Maker
are all very mesermizing. Here's a surprise: Crayola has the best online coloring activity I've ever seen called
digi-color.
For particular techniques, it seems like it's difficult to find a site that really teaches a craft and at the same time is appealing to children. The website
Origami-club
does this with instructions on paper folding, some with video demos. I guess that is something I would like to see more of: craft websites geared toward children that children would actually like to use.
